Here at Cara Motorhomes, we are passionate about helping families and individuals find the perfect motorhome for their needs. With over 30 years of experience in the industry, our team of experts understand the process of purchasing a motorhome can be overwhelming and sometimes stressful. We would like to ease this process and help make it a fun and exciting experience.
We offer a wide selection of top-quality motorhomes from brands such as Rapido, Dethleffs, Sunlight (which we are agents for) but would also receive a variety of makes and models through trade-ins such as Burstner, Swift, Elddis, Adria, Itineo, Rimor and so much more!! Our team will inspect each and every vehicle before it is taken in as a trade-in to ensure you are getting a quality product for your money.
There are so many different shapes, sizes, lengths and layouts to choose from so make sure to shop around and find the best fit for you and/or your family.
To help make the decision-making process easier, we have put together what we think are the 3 main tips to keep in mind when purchasing your first motorhome:
Layout - Your motorhome is going to be your home away from home for multiple weeks each year, so it's crucial that the layout meets your needs. Consider whether you prefer fixed or make-up beds and think about the other living areas such as the sitting area, kitchen, dining area and bathroom.
Cost - Have a rough idea of your budget before you start your search for the perfect motorhome. Whether you're buying new or used, the cost can vary depending on the make, model, and year of the vehicle. Our finance options are available for up to 10 years, subject to terms and conditions.
Size - Decide on your preferred layout first, as this will often determine the size of the motorhome you need. Most motorhomes in the UK are between 6m - 8m long and 2.05m - 2.35m wide. Remember, you'll need a C1 category license to drive a motorhome weighing between 3,500kg - 7,500kg, so check the back of your driving license for the categories you have. Make sure you're comfortable driving the motorhome and have a suitable storage space for when it's not in use.
These, in our opinion, would be the top three factors however there are others you might need to consider when purchasing a motorhome. Such as:
- How many people are you generally going to be accommodating? In this case we would advise looking at how many seatbelts you would require in the vehicle.
- Would it being a Left / Right hand drive OR Manual / Automatic transmission be a factor for you.
- What warranty is on the motorhome.
- Are there additional extras that you would require? For example, do you cycle a lot? Would you need a motorhome that has a bike rack already fitted. Maybe you do a lot of travelling outside of Ireland and would prefer something with an awning.
Get in touch with our parts department and see what additional extras you can have fitted on to your motorhome or visit our online store and browse through all the different options.
